The tamper, dosing funnel, puck screen and bottomless portafilter that actually fit a Breville Bambino Plus or Barista Express, and the order to buy them in.

Add the Normcore 54 mm magnetic dosing funnel for a tidy counter, the Normcore 53.3 mm puck screen for a cleaner machine, and the Normcore 54 mm bottomless portafilter if you want to watch and learn from every shot.
- Must-have: a WDT tool and a scale (they fit every machine)
- Biggest upgrade: Normcore V4 53.3 mm tamper
- Nice to have: 54 mm funnel, 53.3 mm puck screen, 54 mm bottomless portafilter
- Breville baskets are 54 mm, so 58 mm tools won't fit

Why Breville owners need different tools
Breville's popular home machines, including the Bambino Plus and Barista Express, use a 54 mm portafilter. Most espresso accessories are made for 58 mm baskets, which is why so many Breville owners have unboxed a beautiful tamper only to find it won't go in. This guide gathers the tools sized for you, so every purchase fits the first time.
Start with the tools that fit everything
Before anything sized, get a WDT tool and a scale. Neither touches the basket rim, so both work with any machine, and together they make the biggest difference to how your shots taste.

How we chose
We only recommend equipment that is sold on amazon.com and documented by its manufacturer. We compared the specifications that change your daily routine (heat-up time, grinding, milk, size and upkeep) and explain the trade-offs in plain English. These are researched recommendations built from manufacturer information, checked on 30 October 2026; we have not tested these products ourselves, and we say so on every page. Figures such as heat-up times are the manufacturer's own and are credited to them. Read our editorial policy.

A tamp that's slightly tilted, or harder on some mornings than others, is one of the most common reasons shots taste uneven. The Normcore V4 takes care of both: its guide rests on the basket so the tamp is always flat, and its spring gives the same pressure every time. Three springs (15, 25 and 30 lb) let you choose how firm. Normcore lists the Bambino Plus, Barista Express, Barista Pro, Barista Touch, Infuser and Duo-Temp Pro among the machines it fits.
2. Normcore 54 mm dosing funnel: a calmer, cleaner counter

Magnetic Dosing Funnel 54mm V2
The Normcore 54 mm magnetic dosing funnel is an 18 mm aluminium ring with built-in magnets that sits on a 54 mm Breville basket, so grounds stay in the basket while you dose and stir.

A magnetic ring that makes the basket taller, so grounds land inside and you can stir with a WDT tool without spills. One note for Barista Express owners: Normcore says the grinding cradle can't hold the portafilter while the funnel is fitted, so you'd hold it by hand under the grinder instead.
3. Normcore 53.3 mm puck screen: less scrubbing

Normcore Puck Screen 53.3mm
The Normcore 53.3 mm puck screen is a 0.8 mm stainless steel disc with fine perforations that sits on top of the coffee in a Breville 54 mm basket to spread water evenly and keep the group head clean.

A thin stainless steel disc that sits on the tamped coffee, spreads the water and keeps grounds off the shower screen. If it leaves a mark from the shower screen, reduce your dose slightly for a little more headspace.

Normcore

With no spouts, you watch the coffee leave the basket: one smooth central stream means even extraction; spurts mean water is finding weak spots. Normcore lists the Barista Express and includes an 18 g basket. Check your exact model before buying.

Frequently asked questions
What accessories fit a Breville Bambino Plus?
Accessories sized for Breville 54 mm portafilters, such as the Normcore V4 53.3 mm tamper, the Normcore 54 mm dosing funnel and the Normcore 53.3 mm puck screen, plus anything that doesn't touch the basket, like a WDT tool and a scale.
Do 58 mm accessories fit Breville machines?
Not the Bambino Plus or Barista Express. They use 54 mm portafilters, so 58 mm tampers, funnels and puck screens won't fit.
Why is a Breville tamper 53.3 mm and not 54 mm?
A slightly smaller base slides into the 54 mm basket without scraping the sides, while still covering almost the whole coffee bed.
What is the best first accessory for a Breville espresso machine?
A WDT tool and a scale, because they fit any machine and improve every shot. After that, a self-levelling tamper such as the Normcore V4 53.3 mm.
Does the Normcore dosing funnel work with the Barista Express grinder?
It fits the 54 mm basket, but Normcore notes the grinding cradle can't hold the portafilter while the funnel is on, so hold the portafilter by hand under the grinder.
